We've had an action packed weekend with dinner at McLintocks where the girls got to pick prizes from the magic saddlebag treasure chest just like their mom's had 3 decades earlier. Katie found the one and only little box of modeling clay in the whole batch, Laura found a doubles sided whirly gig and Madison came away the proud owner of huge, yellow plastic kazoo lips and has been humming ever since.
The girls have pounded away in the surf until they wore the sand right off the beach, they swam in the heated pool, pedaled their way through the campground in a two-seater bicycle with surrey on the top. The video included here shows the girls with Laura in the front cart of the bike - we're pretty sure they were perfectly safe and nobody approached our campground to complain of any damages.
Today we saw BEA-utiful monarch butterflies at the Pismo State Park Eucalyptus grove. We've got pictures of that too, but in a problem that will not surprise Uncle Scott, Grandma can't figure out the new technology necessary to transfer them. There were about 14,000 butterflies right now but we couldn't figure out how anybody could count that many.
Papa then drove right out on the beach in the Jeep so we could all play in the surf during the setting of the sun. Grandma told us all about how that when the Great White Sharks like to feed but we were pretty sure she didn't really know what she was talking about. And, we did come home pretty much safe other than a vicious mosquito bite that Katie got on her calf and bruised eyelid when Madison was bitten by an overly enthusiastic "duck" named Laura in the pool. It was a vicious and mightly "quack" that left us all stunned. Who knew ducks had teeth?
Here is a picture of Laura and Katie in the sunset at the beach and another of Papa and Grandma with their backs turned while the kids are playing in the surf. Tomorrow we will post the good pictures (hopefully) if Grandma can figure out the technology or if Uncle Scott answers his phone.
