I left him too long on his own during my spa experience yesterday and this morning he is in this and a pair of boots that look kind of greenish to me. Apparently while he was looking for the coolant that the Jeep couldn't possibly need because he had it serviced and there was sticker, he found a Western Wear shop. Oh goody, because as a rule I find myself almost mystically drawn to Cowboys. (Yes, that was sarcasm, although I did really like the Cowboys on last season's Amazing Race.)
Since he had the giant hat and had apparently been doing some shopping around he found a Giant Car Wash and decided the rig could use a good going-over after the bee episode. Here you see the giant rig coming out of the giant washer:
They actually did a really nice job with Barry declaring that he may never wash himself again - not himself - but he, himself won't be washing the rig....well, you get it..... We finally departed Las Vegas around noon and headed out into the high desert of Arizona.
Now, for those you who supported me through Elizabethtown, KY incident during last year's travels, you will be pleased to learn that Barry has redeemed himself. I'm always up for any goofy roadside attraction and he usually feigns deafness to my requests but this time he actually planned a whole stop around a spectacular hole in the ground! He researched and found the Crater RV Park and even took me all the way to the Crater attraction (privately owned) AND paid an entrance fee of $15 each AND endured picture taking and souvenir shopping. He even seemed to like it.
So the Arizona crater is a giant hole in the ground where 50,000 years ago a 150 ft wide meteor hit the earth. Although this isn't the "largest" meteor strike or hole it still counts because the sign said it was site of the "Best Preserved and First Confirmed" meteor strike ever. And it was beyond cool:
