We're All Fired Up and Ready to Roll!

I guess it is a pretty good thing that we are Fired Up given that we are headed straight for the very Hubs of Hell otherwise known as the Midwest in July.  We are stopped for the night in Bakersfield in some sort of demented and wholly unwarranted attempt to acclimatize prior to reaching termpartures equivilent of the face of the SUN!  I had to consult with a colleague regarding travel plans yesterday and this normally kind and professional Lieutenant exlaimed, "What? Are you crazy?!"  Well, duh, but since when was that some kind of issue?? 

Our next stop is Las Vegas where Barry will be attending the AWFS Convention and Tool Junky Extravaganza for two days.  We noticed that today they are registering a balmy 105 degrees!  No biggie because -- hang onto your fans and umbrellas here - we head next into the biggest heat wave the mid-nation has seen in years!  It is so hot and so humid that they are calling it a HEAT DOME! What the heck is a HEAT DOME?  It certainly can't be good!

From everything we gather this is pretty much what we'll look like:

  Yes, gentle readers, we are going willingly into the Great Lake of Fire and Brimstone - I know, I know - some of you have thought we were headed there for years now but serioiusly? -- Beth has laid down the gauntlet threatening to travel the entire way in her underwear - and don't think she won't!  Friends and family be forewarned or have the cameras ready I plan to meet the Topeka heat in appropriate attire! The only thing that could lure us to the nether reaches of a Kansas summer is the company of dear family gathered to celebrate Uncle Royal's 90th Birthday!



So stay tuned, travel along with us, weigh in on the contest that is Beth and Barry's Excellent Tourbus Adventure.  The first bet has been made and I am prohibited by statute and agreement from disclosing the subject of the bet but the bounty involves washing each other's vehicle to the winner's satisfaction.  Stay tuned for outcome - although it is a foregone conclusion that Beth is bound to come out victorious (it was a major sucker bet on Barry's part)  We'd really love to hear from you as we go along and Beth desparately needs the support as she struggles to soldier on valiantly from the co-pilot seat of the rig (really, you try being the passenger to his pronouncements and veiled threats!)
